Dipping My Toes in the Social Media Waters
Well, I’m finally getting around to doing my own social media bits, after a couple of years of working on everyone else’s.
A couple of weeks ago, I started posting (gulp!) every week to my Facebook and Twitter accounts, as well as opening a new Instagram Account. I’m still very much the newbie at Instagram, so it looks a bit neglected at the moment, but I’m finally getting some traction around my other social media.
I’ve been active on a number of group social media platforms over the past couple of years, but have been very shy about putting much of substance around my work out there — that’s slowly changing as I gain in practice and confidence.
One of the hazards of a day job as a techie type is that you know more than enough to use social media effectively, but you have to disconnect a mindset that says that all these tools are for other people, and that you only support them. Doh!!
The shoemaker’s children go unshod in every field of endeavor it seems!
Well, I’m going to try to ply a new needle here, and post more regularly.
Meantime, my January Marketing Maker Bee workshop for artists and other micro-businesses is filling up – you can book ahead for these monthly sessions on the registration page if you like.
These are free to participants, as they have been sponsored through the generosity of the Arts Council of Surrey and the ArtsCan Resource Network, each of whom has a strong interest in seeing creative endeavours of all kinds flourish. The 3rd Friday of each month, 10:30 am until 3:00 pm at the Newton Cultural Centre!
